Jahidah Mohammed Eid al-Ali, une Syrienne de 50 ans, survit en Syrie aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de son mari de 55 ans et de ses nombreux enfants et petits-enfants. Les donateurs d&#039;ADRA ont apport\u00e9 des paniers alimentaires \u00e0 des familles comme celle de Jahidah, qui vivent actuellement dans un abri collectif au centre sportif de Lattaqui\u00e9. Jahida affirme que l&#039;aide alimentaire fournie par ADRA a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0immense\u00a0\u00bb pour sa famille et qu&#039;elle vous est extr\u00eamement reconnaissante de votre contribution.<\/p><p>This gratitude is significant if you consider all that this family has lived through. Prior to the earthquake, they had lost a son to cancer when he was only 19. Originally hailing from the region of Idleb, the family lost their land, home, belongings, and livelihood because of the war. After moving to Latakia, they found a new home to rent, supported by the husband\u2019s day labour job. Though they had faced hardships, Jahidah described their situation as \u201cpretty good.\u201d<\/p><p>Her tone turns more dire when she describes their experiences during the earthquake. Marked by nearly inexpressible terror, the family had to face the loss of their home yet again \u2013 this one becoming uninhabitable almost instantly, as their shoreline apartment threatened to be swallowed up by the sea. Her grandchildren fell ill due to the cold February weather, and they were forced to take shelter under a bridge for three days before finding the Sports City shelter. In Jahida\u2019s words, those moments \u201cfelt like the end of the world.\u201d<\/p><p>With their situation slightly more stable, Jahida is once again able to live in the light of gratitude, thanks in part to your generosity. Challenges still remain, though. Jahida\u2019s son still requires medical attention to address his injuries and disability from the war, and Jahida herself is diabetic.
