Parlons d'\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes. Selon ONU Femmes, pr\u00e8s d'une femme sur trois a subi des violences physiques et\/ou sexuelles au moins une fois dans sa vie.<\/p>

La plupart des violences sont commises par des partenaires intimes. C'est ce qu'a v\u00e9cu l'\u00e9pouse d'Oola.<\/p>

ADRA soutient l'\u00e9galit\u00e9. Nous travaillons pour un monde o\u00f9 tous peuvent vivre comme Dieu l'a voulu : dans le respect, la dignit\u00e9 et la poursuite de leur potentiel donn\u00e9 par Dieu.<\/p>

Notre projet ENSEMBLE, avec le g\u00e9n\u00e9reux soutien d'Affaires mondiales Canada, travaille avec des communaut\u00e9s au Cambodge, au Kenya, aux Philippines et en Ouganda pour veiller \u00e0 ce que les plus vuln\u00e9rables, en particulier les femmes et les filles, puissent exercer leurs droits humains li\u00e9s \u00e0 la sant\u00e9.
Cela demande un effort d'\u00e9quipe, alors ENSEMBLE se concentre \u00e9galement sur les gar\u00e7ons et les hommes.<\/p>

Oola a rejoint l'une des formations de TOGETHER.<\/p>

\u201cThe day we had the first training opened my eyes to realize how alcohol misuse had destroyed my family. The discussion on causes and effects of gender-based violence (GBV) helped me to analyze the irresponsible life that brough misery to my family members. Alcohol was all I cared about.\u201d Oola shared that he would sell household items, and even food, to fund his dependency. \u201cI would come back very drunk and fight with my wife and children when they asked for money. On several occasions, my wife and children would run away and spend the night in the bush to escape my violent behaviour. The thought of this makes me cry with regret over how terrible I was as a father and husband.<\/p>

\u201cHowever, through ADRA\u2019s training, I got a second chance in life. I am a changed man. My wife is proud of me. Before I sell anything, I must discuss first with my wife. We agree on the price of the goods and the reason for selling. Even when I have misunderstandings with my wife, we can solve them privately so that the children never notice. This has brought a lot of peace in my home and restored the respect for me that my children had lost because of the alcoholism. I\u2019ve now reduced my consumption to save money and to keep the rest of my children in school to protect them from teenage pregnancy. I regret how my behaviour made my three boys drop out of school.\u201d<\/p>

La seconde chance d'Oola profite \u00e0 bien plus qu'\u00e0 sa famille. Il est membre de l'\u00e9quipe d'apprentissage et de suivi et d'\u00e9valuation dirig\u00e9s par la communaut\u00e9 (ColMEL) cr\u00e9\u00e9e en collaboration avec ADRA.<\/p>

\u201cAs the ColMEL team, we use community dialogues, music, dance, and drama to sensitize our community and the neighbouring villages on GBV which has led to a lot of teenage pregnancies, early marriages, and school drop-outs. <\/p><\/div>
