Au Kenya, Polina Kamula n'am\u00e9liore pas seulement ses propres conditions de vie, elle transforme sa communaut\u00e9.<\/p>

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l'aide d'ADRA, rendue possible gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des personnes comme vous, Polina a \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9e comme experte en aviculture. Cette formation lui a permis d'acqu\u00e9rir des comp\u00e9tences techniques en mati\u00e8re d'\u00e9levage de poulets am\u00e9lior\u00e9 et de gestion de petites exploitations. Depuis, elle partage largement ce savoir-faire. Elle accompagne actuellement 35 personnes r\u00e9parties dans deux groupes et offre un soutien technique continu \u00e0 60 autres personnes au sein de la communaut\u00e9.<\/p>

Before the project began, most households kept only three to five free-ranging birds, limiting both productivity and income potential. With Polina\u2019s mentorship, families have adopted improved practices, including constructing poultry cages to protect and better manage their flocks. As a result, the number of birds per household has increased significantly, ranging from 11 to as many as 102 birds.<\/p>

Within Polina\u2019s own group of 25 members, the total number of chickens has grown to 740. This growth represents more than numbers; it means improved nutrition, increased household income, and greater economic resilience for families.<\/p>

Polina\u2019s leadership extends beyond poultry. She has established two acres of land under Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), restoring productivity to degraded land. To support new plantings, she has constructed 200 zai pits\u2014small planting basins that capture water and improve soil fertility\u2014and built terraces to prevent erosion and conserve moisture. Looking ahead, she plans to plant grasses along the terraces and install beehives to further diversify her farm and expand income opportunities.<\/p>

Polina\u2019s work demonstrates the power of locally-led development. By equipping one farmer with the right skills and support, entire communities can strengthen food security, restore their environment, and build sustainable pathways out of poverty.<\/p>
