{"id":92803,"date":"2020-02-28T14:16:22","date_gmt":"2020-02-28T19:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/devsite.adra.ca\/?p=92803"},"modified":"2023-08-03T12:38:04","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T16:38:04","slug":"when-it-rains-ash-and-stones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adra.ca\/fr\/stories\/when-it-rains-ash-and-stones\/","title":{"rendered":"Quand il pleut des cendres et des pierres !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Situ\u00e9 \u00e0 seulement 50 kilom\u00e8tres au sud de Manille, la capitale des Philippines, le volcan Taal est le deuxi\u00e8me volcan le plus actif du pays.<\/p>\n<p>Le dimanche 12 janvier 2020, Taal a soudainement commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 entrer en \u00e9ruption. Les sismologues des Philippines ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9\u00a0: <em>\u201cThe speed of the escalation of Taal\u2019s volcanic activity caught us by surprise.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the night, ash rained down on in the surrounding provinces, resulting in slippery roads and dirty windshields which caused multiple accidents. Vers 15 heures, son employeur lui a dit que les autorit\u00e9s avaient augment\u00e9 le niveau de menace et qu&#039;il \u00e9tait temps pour elle de contacter sa famille et de prendre des dispositions pour sortir de la zone de danger.<\/p>\n<p>Elle a appel\u00e9 son mari et lui a dit de rassembler leurs enfants, d&#039;emporter au moins deux v\u00eatements de rechange pour chacun d&#039;eux et de s\u00e9curiser la maison avant de venir la chercher au travail pour qu&#039;ils puissent \u00e9vacuer.<\/p>\n<p>It was 5:00 pm when her husband and kids arrived in their \u2018tricycle\u2019 (a typical vehicle in the Philippines that is made by attaching a cart to the side or rear of a motorbike). The family got stuck in a traffic jam on the road with other cars and tricycles desperately trying to evacuate the area. Stones and mud from the volcano rained down on them. At around 6:30 pm, Level 4 was announced over the radio. They decided to get off the road and look for shelter. Luckily, a family friend lived close by.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI wasn\u2019t able to sleep that night. The ashes and rocks from the volcano were hitting the roof and the ground kept shaking\u2026 I just prayed the whole night for the roof to hold up and for us to be saved. The power had gone out and we were not able to see anything during the night.\u00a0 The only time we saw the full extent of the damage was early the next morning as the sun came up.\u00a0 Mud and ash covered everything! After a few hours, we dug out our tricycle, got it going, and set out to try and find an evacuation centre.\u00a0 Our friend who had given us shelter for the night joined us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We had not traveled far before we met up with the military, who pointed us towards Tanauan City, about 15 km from where we were. There, we would be safely out of the danger zone and would be able to check into an evacuation centre until the alert level was lowered. It took us a few hours to get through all of the mud and debris on the road, but we finally made it to the Old City Hall in Tanauan. We were extremely thankful to make it safely, to the shelter with no injuries or loss of life!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Le bureau d&#039;ADRA aux Philippines est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du volcan, mais en dehors de la zone d&#039;\u00e9vacuation de 14 km.<\/p>\n<p>Le personnel d&#039;ADRA a travaill\u00e9 avec la Mission Adventiste de Cavite, la Conf\u00e9rence des Adventistes du Septi\u00e8me Jour du Centre-Sud de Luzon et les diff\u00e9rentes agences gouvernementales impliqu\u00e9es pour planifier leur r\u00e9ponse.<\/p>\n<p>Dans les semaines qui ont suivi, ADRA a fourni des kits de literie \u00e0 1 192 des familles situ\u00e9es dans les centres d&#039;\u00e9vacuation, ainsi qu&#039;une aide en esp\u00e8ces de 1 500 P \u00e0 2 250 familles afin qu&#039;elles puissent r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 leurs besoins imm\u00e9diats.
