Nepal Flood Emergency
A sudden, powerful flash flood has swept through northern Nepal, destroying homes, roads, bridges and essential services along the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli river corridor.
As of September 3, more than 1,250 people have been killed and over 4,200 remain missing following catastrophic floods and mudslides. Approximately 30 Canadians and permanent residents also remain unaccounted for.
7,500 homes have been completely destroyed, and authorities estimate that 20,000 homes will need to be rebuilt.

ADRA has an established presence in Nepal and trusted relationships with local authorities, communities and humanitarian partners.
ADRA Nepal is actively participating in emergency coordination, monitoring needs and preparing to respond as soon as affected communities can be safely reached. Because so many roads and bridges have been destroyed, a complete needs assessment cannot yet be conducted. Early reports indicate that emergency shelter and food assistance are likely to be among the most urgent priorities, with significant needs also emerging in health care, clean water, hygiene and other essential areas.
