For many families in Lebanon, the economic crisis has turned everyday necessities into impossible luxuries. Rising food prices, soaring living costs, and limited employment opportunities have left countless households struggling to meet even their most basic needs.

One of those families is that of Edris, a 50-year-old shoe repairer living in Burj Hamoud with his wife and three children. “I am working as a shoe repairer, and I barely make $50 per month,” Edris shared. “My income is very low, and our home rent, generator costs, and food prices keep increasing. We barely had food on the table. We had no steady income to cover our expenses, especially my wife’s medicine.”

Like many families, Edris faced heartbreaking choices between paying bills, purchasing medicine, and putting food on the table. Through ADRA’s emergency food assistance program, supported by generous donors, his family received food e-cards that allowed them to purchase the groceries they needed with dignity and flexibility.

“We were unable to afford our most basic food and household needs, but now, because of ADRA’s assistance, I am able to provide food for my family,” he said. “The food e-card has reduced the stress we face from the economic situation. [ADRA’s] efforts have put smiles back on our faces and brought us comfort in many ways.”
