160 “When EMBRACE came here, I joined one of the groups. It’s been very good for me. I sell to the different EMBRACE 161
EMBRACE tried to interest and encourage me in raising groups. I sell the chickens to everyone. It’s been a good
chickens. I was very excited to learn. Once I had some business for me. I began with only 100 chickens. I gained a
success, I started giving the chickens to my group members profit of 50,000 francs from those chickens. Now I have 300
and they began to raise them at home. Then we all tried chickens and I can get a profit of 150,000 francs. It’s a good
exchanging chickens. Then we tried taking them to the and growing business!
market.

I use loans from my group to help me grow my chicken Through the groups we have tried to unite, to trust each
business. As my business grows, I’m able to pay off the loans. other, to love each other. We have built confidence in
ourselves and in each other so that we’re able to do business
Before EMBRACE, I tried raising local chickens. EMBRACE and try to help each other. It’s been good for us because it
helped me to get training in raising chickens. They invited helps us socially and increases our capacity.”
