“In the EMBRACE program, this is how the information flows From my observation, I believe that the Reflect Circle
from ADRA down to the villagers. ADRA first comes to the approach is very effective. As we come together as women in
village and holds a rally on health. Many people from the the village, we are able to get to know each other better. As
village come and spend a day learning about principles of we share the struggles that each of us have, we become
good health. ADRA then asks for volunteers to become stronger. As we learn together, we all become more
facilitators. Anyone who is interested can volunteer. When confident in everything that we do as mothers, as wives, as
all the names are in, the people of the village vote who they members of a community.
would like to be their facilitator. The one who is chosen goes
to a training centre where ADRA teaches group facilitators I would like to thank the donors, ADRA Canada, and the
from the surrounding villages. We learn key messages which Government of Canada who have supported this project and
we then take back to our village. The facilitator shares this brought EMBRACE to our village. Thank you very much! I
with her Reflect Circle groups that she forms in her village. wish you a good life, a healthy, long, prosperous life.” Photo: © 2019 ADRA | VJ Matias
