Lebanon, already facing a crippling economic crisis, is now enduring further hardship as conflict escalates. More than 1 million individuals have been displaced, with numbers continuing to grow as more people are forced to abandon their homes. The ongoing hostilities have resulted in 1,800 people being killed and 9,000 wounded due to the conflict as of late September. exacerbating the nation’s already challenging situation.
Approximately 1 million people are displaced, with 142,000 IDPs registered in shelters and many others unregistered or sheltering in public places.
Local schools and colleges have been opened up to hundreds of people at a time, providing shelter, water, and hot meals.
After conducting needs assessments, ADRA is moving into action, focusing on providing hot meals, water, fruits, and vegetables to displaced people. The most urgent needs include maintaining shelter facilities, addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) issues, food security, cash assistance, psychological support, health services, and education for displaced children.
As the situation worsens, many fear further escalation, but ADRA remains committed to serving those affected. Donations to ADRA’s response efforts are encouraged to help secure the future of thousands in Lebanon.
