Namoit’s journey began in Turkana, a region of breathtaking natural beauty marred by conflict. Born into a nomadic family, she experienced firsthand the challenges of living in a volatile area. Despite the hardships, there was a sense of community and abundance, with her father’s herds providing sustenance and connection.

However, tragedy struck when bandits raided her family, leaving them destitute and shattered. With courage in her heart, Namoit made the courageous decision to seek refuge in the Rift Valley, holding onto the hope of a brighter future for her family.

Arriving in Ndoret, Namoit faced the daunting task of rebuilding her life from scratch. Days were spent toiling under the relentless sun, her hands bearing the marks of labour as she tended to fields and crops. Yet, amidst the struggles, she found solace in her family’s love and her spirit’s resilience.

But the shadows of violence and displacement reared their ugly heads once more during the tumultuous 2007/8 elections, forcing Namoit and her family to flee once again. Displaced and disoriented, they found themselves in unfamiliar territory, far from the comfort of home.

With resources scarce and no steady income, Namoit turned to various means to provide for her family. From crafting brooms to selling firewood, she persevered, ensuring that her children had food on the table and dreams in their hearts.

Amidst the darkness, a beacon of hope emerged through the kindness of organizations like ADRA. With their support, Namoit was able to secure essentials and provide her grandchildren with educational opportunities, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.

But Namoit’s journey is far from over. As she gazes toward an uncertain future, she does so with gratitude and unwavering determination. Her resilience is a testament to the strength of the human spirit, inspiring us all to persevere in the face of adversity.
