During our Easter campaign in 2023, you learned about Aissa – a 15-year-old girl in Niger who’s involvement in the BRIGHT project helped her reignite her education journey. We would like to introduce you to yet another young girl you have impacted through BRIGHT.

Meet Nang Mom Lai, a resilient 16-year-old residing in Nar Hwei village, Lashio township in Myanmar. Despite completing middle school, her dreams of further education were dashed by the harsh realities of the COVID-19 pandemic that strained her family’s finances and the recent political instability and war in her country.

Enter the BRIGHT project, made possible by the generosity of donors like you athrough ADRA Canada. Hearing about this opportunity through her mother, who attended an ADRA project meeting, Nang Mom Lai seized the chance to enroll in a two-month sewing training program, eager to learn a new skill that could change her life.

After her training, Nang Mom Lai received a sewing machine and essential equipment, empowering her to start her own business. With determination and newfound skills, she diligently sewed clothes and within a mere two months, managed to earn an impressive income of 3 lakhs. Witnessing her dedication, the project extended further support, offering guidance to help her business flourish.

Grateful for the transformative opportunity provided while the BRIGHT project was still running, and the unwavering support of donors and ADRA, Nang Mom Lai now dreams of a brighter future. She aspires to become a sewing trainer, sharing her knowledge with others, and she harbours hopes of establishing her very own sewing shop. With your continued generosity, Nang Mom Lai’s journey to success is not just a story of personal triumph but a testament to the profound impact of your part in empowering individuals and communities worldwide.
