In the heart of Northern Thailand, where poverty and inequality still cast long shadows, the Keep Girls Safe (KGS) shelter stands as a beacon of hope. Thanks to generous donations, girls at risk of exploitation and neglect are finding safety, opportunity, and a chance to reclaim their future.
Thirteen-year-old Mindy’s story is one of resilience and a father’s love. Her father, Thananchai, living in a flood-prone area near the international airport and struggled under the weight of debt and hardship. When Mindy called him after years without school, lost in despair, he made a decision that changed their lives, he brought her home and sought help. With unwavering determination, he turned to the KGS shelter, pleading for a better life for his daughter. Now, Mindy is safe, thriving in school, and surrounded by care. “I feel good when she feels well,” Thananchai says. “I can only be happy when I know that she is happy.”
Twelve-year-old Nam faced another kind of hardship, cruel bullying at school because of her family’s poverty. Her mother sells rice and crochets to make ends meet, but it’s never quite enough. A social worker connected them to KGS, and today, Nam is not just safe, she is blossoming. Though her mother misses her, she knows her daughter is fed, supported, and no longer living in fear.
These stories are not just individual triumphs. They are part of a broader mission. KGS addresses exploitation and trafficking through prevention, education, and safe housing. The shelter supports over 30 vulnerable girls, while scholarships and citizenship support are provided to marginalized youth.
Thanks to the compassion of donors, girls like Mindy and Nam are rewriting their stories. These lives are living proof that your support is not just making a difference—it is creating lasting change.
