Gender-Equality
Our commitment to human rights is deeply rooted in our Christian values at ADRA Canada. We believe that every individual, as a reflection of God’s image, possesses inherent dignity and is entitled to fundamental rights. With this conviction, we stand firm in our resolve to challenge all forms of discrimination that marginalize and devalue people, including those based on disabilities and gender.
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) are central to our approach across all aspects of our work. Whether in development initiatives or emergency response programs, we prioritize GESI to ensure that the rights of the most vulnerable communities are upheld. Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including women, girls, men, boys, community leaders, and governmental bodies, we strive to foster positive change and elevate the status of women and girls in society.
Through our integrated programming, organizational ethos, communication strategies, and partnerships, we are steadfast in our pursuit of justice, equity, and empowerment for all individuals, regardless of gender or social identity. Join us as we work together to create a world where every person is valued, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
Integrating unpaid care work into gender-transformative health programs involves recognizing, reducing, and redistributing the burden of care predominantly on women and girls through strategies such as data collection, promoting access to time-saving technologies, challenging gender norms, and advocating for caregivers’ rights, ultimately aiming to optimize health outcomes and promote gender equality.
