The boy rescued by the Keep Girls Safe project

You may hear us often making a point to emphasize gender equality in our work at ADRA. Some of our project participants themselves often wonder why we put such an emphasis on helping women and girls. The reality is, when you support girls, you often end up helping boys along the way. And that’s exactly what you helped accomplish with Paul.

A Teacher’s Good Influence

Do you have a teacher that greatly influenced you? I think we all do. They’ve enriched our lives and we enjoy the benefits to this day.

In many countries, especially those that suffer from conflict, students don’t have the chance to benefit from the wisdom and guidance of good teachers. Your support is helping to change that.

BRACE Project Changing lives in Kenya

We have been working for some time in Turkana County, Kenya. Your support for ADRA has been giving multiple communities a chance to build a better future for themselves. One group of 22 people – consisting of 10 men and 12 women – has grown from growing no vegetables to having 5 acres of crops to farm, as well as an acre of pasture for animals. Meanwhile, a few members of the community used money from their savings and loans group to start a collective poultry enterprise.

TOGETHER, We Protect Women and Children

Your unflagging support of ADRA’s mission is reaching the vulnerable around the world with provision and protection. Thank you, dear Angel, for protecting the vulnerable today and ensuring a safer tomorrow!

How Mrs. Loy’s son gained 19 pounds

Mrs. Loy is very proud of her son’s health. It’s taken the Loy’s considerable commitment and effort to bring their son out of malnutrition and related illnesses.

The Loy’s live in a very remote village in Lao PDR (Laos), the country with the highest rate of undernutrition in East Asia and the Pacific Region. The root causes of malnutrition relate to poverty, various socioeconomic factors, and cultural beliefs, customs, and traditions. Other causes include insufficient nutritional intake, less-than-ideal child feeding and care practices, inadequate access to quality health services, and unhealthy environments caused by poor water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

How ADRA’s TOGETHER project in Uganda helped Oola change his life

Let’s talk about gender equality. According to UN Women, almost one in three women have suffered from physical and/or sexual violence at least once in their life.

Most of the violence is committed by intimate partners. This was the experience of Oola’s wife.

ADRA upholds equality. We work towards a world where all may live as God intended: with respect, dignity, and the pursuit of their God-given potential.

Our TOGETHER project, with generous support from Global Affairs Canada, works with communities in Cambodia, Kenya, the Philippines, and Uganda to ensure that the most vulnerable, especially women and girls, can exercise their health-related human rights.
