Across Yemen, men, women, and children continue to struggle every day to access food. Though support has already brought relief to many, the need remains staggering. It is estimated that in May, more than half of the households across Yemen were unable to meet their minimum food needs.
Hassan, a 45-year-old father, knows this struggle all too well. Once a cleaner who worked tirelessly to provide for his wife and four children, Hassan’s life was upended by illness; a painful hernia and worsening rheumatism forced him to stop working, leaving his family without income.
“I felt sad and depressed when I could not find anything to feed my family,” he says.
But then, thanks to generous donors, cash assistance provided through ADRA made support possible; Hassan’s family received a vital food basket—wheat, rice, beans, cooking oil, sugar. It wasn’t just food. It was hope.
“My family and I now eat three meals a day and are full,” Hassan says proudly.
This aid didn’t just fill their stomachs, but it restored dignity and gave families like Hassan’s a chance to breathe easy again, knowing that food was guaranteed to be on their table the next day.
Yet, for every Hassan, there are thousands more still waiting.
