Your continued support for ADRA has been building stronger connections to families in Yemen. Recently, ADRA staff travelled to Yemen to visit project sites in person. Among those visiting were Philanthropy & Marketing Associate Director Teresa Ferreira, and Emergency Program Director Anita Odondi.

During the trip, the ADRA Canada team connected with some of our implementing partners on the ground – the people who have been instrumental in extending your support to the Yemeni people during their ongoing crisis. Due to the ongoing war, humanitarian conditions in Yemen have only gotten more dire, with schools largely shut down, employment and food scarce, and many families struggling to make it through.

One of the most striking areas of impact that you have helped to sustain over time is the system of seven ADRA-supported medical sites scattered throughout the country. In the face of incredibly dire circumstances, you have helped families receive vital surgeries and treatments that otherwise would have been completely inaccessible to them.

Still, the in-person contact allowed us to confirm some of the stark realities faced by the people here and the projects we sponsor. While the clinics have provided healthcare to those who would otherwise not have it, Teresa sat down and spoke with mothers who walked for 45 minutes to an hour to simply arrive at the clinic and receive attention. Some make this lengthy trek while cradling an infant child in their arms.

The worthwhile journey to Yemen allowed the ADRA Canada team to build strong bonds with our implementing partners and to gain a deeper and more granular understanding of the ongoing needs in Yemen. Your continued support is invaluable to ADRA, especially as we face the difficulties of supporting the Yemeni people through their ongoing crisis.
