In the border regions of Thailand, young women face heightened risks of violence and danger. Since their 2004 launch, the Keep Girls Safe Project empowers schools and communities to combat human trafficking, child exploitation, and abuse. The generosity of donors has enabled the KGS Project to raise awareness, advocate for policy changes, and provide crucial support services alongside dedicated professionals, reaching the most vulnerable communities. The project provides a beacon of hope, empowering girls to build a brighter future.

When her parents divorced in grade six, Jenney’s life was disrupted by constant moves with her mother. This instability prevented her from attending school, halting her education. But when the opportunity to return, Jenney seized it. She vividly remembers the joy of wearing a school uniform, receiving essential school supplies, and carrying her very own first-day-of-school bag – a day she now cherishes.

At school, Jenney flourished. She made friends, embraced new activities, and worked to master Thai, a difficult task for stateless girls like her. With each new word learned and each sentence written, her world became a whole lot bigger. She discovered the power of reading, unlocking new knowledge and opening up a world of possibilities through books, enabling her to connect more deeply with others.

“Education changed my attitude, vision, and thought,” Jenney shares. “After I graduated, I got a good job with good benefits. I’m very happy with my life today. I use the knowledge and skills I learned in university and apply it to my career.”

Education has also paved the way for Jenney to pursue Thai nationality. Now a university graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Communication, she has a stable job and benefits – a life she never thought possible. Because of this, Jenney is now eligible to apply for Thai citizenship, a dream she is pursuing with the support of the KGS project staff.

Donations provide more than just school supplies and uniforms; they are investing in the futures of young women like Jenney, empowering them to overcome adversity, pursue their dreams, and build stronger, more resilient communities.
