Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Torchbearer Pathfinder Club at West Park Seventh-day Adventist Church has launched a heartfelt outreach initiative to support newly arrived immigrant families. Through this effort, the club has “adopted” 40 newcomer households, providing essential food every two weeks and hygiene supplies on a quarterly basis.
The project is being carried out in partnership with the Immigrant Centre of Manitoba and N.E.E.D.S. Inc., who connected the club with families in need. Many of these newcomers have fled conflict and are now facing challenges such as high living costs, language barriers, and difficulty finding stable employment.
ADRA Canada’s Regional Manager for Canadian Programs, Stephanie Yamniuk, helped the Pathfinder Club connect with the Rotary Club of Winnipeg to secure local funding for the project. She has also provided guidance on building strong community partnerships—support that continues to help the club grow its reach and impact.
Since launching in July 2025, volunteers from West Park SDA Church have already supported 66 families. “We do not discriminate or hold bias against anyone. We offer our assistance and compassion to everyone we meet,” shared Delvie Mutya, Pathfinder Club leader.
Through their dedication, the Torchbearer Pathfinder Club is putting faith into action—offering hope, dignity, and care to families beginning new lives in Canada. With encouragement and mentorship through ADRA’s Canadian Programs, initiatives like this one show how local leaders are building bridges of support for those finding their place in a new country.
