We have received a quarterly report about how your support of ADRA has been making a difference in Yemen. With one of the direst humanitarian crises in the world, Yemen is a nation in desperate need of help. Your contributions are saving people’s lives.
Through numerous health projects, ADRA provides limited curative care in 80 different facilities (hospitals, health centers, mobile clinics, etc.) throughout areas like Sa’adah, Hajjah, Abyan, Lahj, Ad Dali’, Al Hodeidah, and Marib. Around 269,848 participants in these areas (and more) have received primary health care consultations – inclusive of all services. Additionally, 993 health care workers were supported with incentives. What’s more, three of the projects have provided 1847 people with mental health services.
As hunger has remained a major problem for many Yemenis, ADRA has supplied 37,825 people with Plumpy Doz – a nutritional supplement used to treat moderate acute malnutrition. Across 45 different “Infant and Young Children Feeding Corners” (IYFC’s), 9,552 mothers have received consultations on issues related to their children’s feeding and nutrition. Another 2595 households have received food vouchers.
Concerning WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene), five water sources have been rehabilitated, providing renewed sources of clean water to 10,866 people in densely populated areas. Concerning, Protection work, 453 people within the quarter attended training programs on Gender-Based Violence prevention and protection.
ADRA also continues to honour the contributions and investments of donors like you by seeking peaceful and structured resolutions to problems. In a couple of instances, desperate people have approached ADRA workers with threats of violence. In a couple of instances, one by text and one in person, people threatened ADRA workers to be added to the project beneficiary nomination list. Undaunted, ADRA staff contacted local authorities and project stakeholders and resolved these disputes peacefully and appropriately.
These are only some of the remarkable stats coming out of the work you have supported in Yemen. Through ADRA, you are making a real, life-saving difference in the lives of real people.
