Your support has brought the TOGETHER project to a small village in the Preah Vihear province of Cambodia and helped to train communities in facilitation skills on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). In the Preah Vihear province of Cambodia is the village of Chheu Teal Kong, where Som So, a hardworking husband to Keung Soeun and father to eight children, has seen the impacts of this project and felt its life-changing experiences.

Som So served in the military, guarding the Cambodia-Thai border, near Phnom An Ses, but he struggled with the difficulties of travelling home and the lack of livelihood it provided. He decided to move home with his family where he is now working as a Village Health Supporter.

Before the TOGETHER project, Som So was shy and afraid of making mistakes and did not know how to facilitate. During the project, he trained to improve his facilitation skills and witnessed the impact of ADRA’s presence in his village. He learned about gender rights and practiced his skills. He has since gained the courage and bravery to facilitate on his own, regularly encouraging others to get involved.

Som So expresses, “This change is very important for me as it makes me aware and helps me share knowledge about gender and rights, as well it helps me doing good housework for the family and in the community.” He adds, “I have noticed that community members have improved hygiene and health, and the rate of domestic violence has reduced.”

Your support of ADRA has created opportunities for learning and growth in communities like this village. Because of the TOGETHER project, Som So can support his family while witnessing his children grow up and help educate his community. Thank you for your part in the development of people in these communities!
