Supporting Health Systems

Vuthy struggled in his role as a nurse. Though he had an associate degree in nursing, there were gaps in his skills and experience. These gaps impacted his ability to deliver quality care to the communities served by his rural clinic in Preah Vihear province in Cambodia. Unfortunately, the gaps were in critical areas of care, namely sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender awareness, and gender-based violence.

Perspectives on Escaping Poverty

For many people around the world, poverty is not only a financial state of being but also a trap. Thankfully, your support of ADRA is helping people escape from that trap. This is the case with Charlse in Uganda.

Generosity Spreading like Wildfire

The wildfires of 2023 were some of the most striking and harrowing events for many families across Canada. Thanks to your support, ADRA has helped numerous affected people across the Northwest Territories to get back on their feet again.

Full, in the Face of Affliction

You have been instrumental in bringing much-needed support to Anahid – a 57-year-old woman who has endured and survived through several immense struggles. Formerly a hospital worker, Anahid was forced to quit her job a long time ago after being diagnosed with diabetes and a severe thyroid condition. Her health problems became severe enough that 11 years ago, she was forced to have her left foot’s toes and her entire right leg amputated.

BRIGHT Project: ADRA’s Mission to Empower Women, Girls, Boys & Men Through Education

Gender-based violence (GBV) violates fundamental human rights and is a major barrier to achieving gender equality. During times of crisis and emergency, multiple risk factors increase the prevalence of gender-based violence (GBV) and exacerbate existing gender inequalities. These kinds of emergency situations can significantly weaken a society’s ability to protect women and girls.

Two Friends in Transition

Paul and Ross are two friends in Moncton, New Brunswick, who you have supported through your contributions to ADRA. Both men have benefitted from the projects at the Moncton Seventh-day Adventist Church, including the Ray of Hope Soup Kitchen, and from the John Howard Society – named for ADRA Canada’s founder.

Updates from Yemen

We have received a quarterly report about how your support of ADRA has been making a difference in Yemen. With one of the direst humanitarian crises in the world, Yemen is a nation in desperate need of help. Your contributions are saving people’s lives.

Working TOGETHER In The Philippines

With a decade-long presence in certain parts of the Philippines, ADRA has a well-established relationship with many people in small, remote barangays (an administrative unit in the Philippines consisting of 50 to 100 people). The current TOGETHER project is building on a foundation that donors like you helped to build during the EMBRACE project.

Northern Connections: Adventist Youth Serve Indigenous People

The youth and young adults of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada had cast a vision for what it would mean to really make a difference right at home. Their vision: to work for the betterment of people’s lives in ways that were responsive to their actual needs. From this vision sprang up a goal: to do something to help Indigenous people in a tangible, practical, and non-manipulative way that fostered true connection and friendship
